My excuse for not blogging

For those 2 or 3 people who take the time to read this little blog, I apologize for my lack of posts during the past 3 weeks.

Life interfered.

We have spent the past 3 weeks dodging hurricanes (Ivan missed Tampa, but visited us in North Georgia- Jeanne spent some time in our neighborhood yesterday- she tore down a palm tree, some large branches and littered my lawn with debri- anybody own a chain saw?),

visiting friends in other states (South Carolina and Georgia trying to avoid a hurricane),

listening to rockstar theologians at a conference (actually a "conversation" with Bruggemann-why must theologians have such complicated European names- give me N. T. Wright- at least I can spell it),

playing with cabin fevered kids (we cannot wait until they are older and we are dealing with emotional issues instead of the physical issues of toddlers) and trying to not screw them up,

talking to a church about joining their staff and moving (more on this later if it proceeds),

trying to find out where we will live in a month or so (SC, FL, NC, MA, VA, GA, anyplace else?),

helping parents find a new place to live in a new city (my parents sold their house for a large profit- 1st time ever- in the midst of a hurricane drenched week in 4 days- now are moving to Gainesville),

renting mini-vans (so suburban, but great for traveling with kids and dogs- where was the dvd?),

watching college football (that FSU/ Miami game was hell on earth, the Clemson game was better),

trying to find out why the media is ignoring the best team in baseball (my beloved Cards have 102 wins and counting but no highlights on ESPN for 2 or 3 straight days),

obsessing over my second love's attempt to catch Satan (Red Sox vs. damn yankees),

trying to figure out what God wants my family to do with our lives (too much time to go into),

getting so angry at politics, propaganda and Christians who sell their soul for political power (I am ready to give it up- thank God for Jon Stewart). How stupid can we be?

reading (new Jon Stewart book, a Batman graphic novel, Bush's Brain- about Karl Rove, new McLaren book) and

trying to find time to get around to writing this book I am supposed to be working on that is due sometime this winter (while trying to put together another book proposal).

So, I have not had the time for blogging. I will get better, if anyone cares (nice pathetic attempt for sympathy).

Thansk for the post. Good to hear from you again. The Cards will get no respect because they are in the Midwest. Take it from a Kansas Jayhawks fan.

By the way which Christians are you refering to in "selling their souls?" I know there are many.

of course I am speaking of the Christian Right, SBC, most evangelicals, any Christians with a W on their car, anyone who supports Focus on the Family's political agenda, the Christian Coalition, the Eagle Forum, Concerned Women for America, Fox news supporters, Ralph Reed, etc.

I would mention the one's on the Left but they don't seem to be doing anything.
