Wendell Berry, in his essay Peacableness Toward Enemies, Some Notes on the Gulf War from Sex, Economy, Freedom & Community, was prophetic during a time of rampant nationalistic excess in 1991. His essay is even more profound and timely during our present conflict in the Middle East.
