mini review of Indiana Jones

finally went to see Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull last night (as parents of 3 small children the time comes less often than we would like).

Now I am the perfect age for an Indiana Jones fanatic. I am old enough to have seen each of the 3 in the theater. I am young enough to have seen the first 1 when I was 12 years old (perfect age for such a film experience). In fact, my very cool parents checked me out of school so I could see the first 2 on opening day. However, I was not looking forward to #4 as much as most people.

My review....

it reminds me of the Smashing Pumpkins. they put out some amazing stuff, some of the best music of their era, every once in a while it could get bloated and a bit over-the-top, but it was entertaining. then they went away. i was sad, but moved on. then they came back with a new album. their new music was okay, but only reminded you of how much better their old music was.

that is Indiana Jones. Kinda like a classic band reforming and putting on a decent show, but capturing none of the magic, just making you long for the good stuff. I am not sure if I would compare them to the Police, The Eagles or Pink Floyd- maybe Steely Dan, but close.

Good review and thanks. You saved me $7 times 2. I figured it would be like that.

i understand the metaphysical aspect of the indy series, but aliens? i know, not outer space aliens, but that spaceship screams alien to me. too much sci-fi fantasy, not enough mythology.

i did love to see indy in 50's suburbia, though.
