watched Hellboy II
But to prepare I watched Hellboy once more (only the 7th or 8th time) and checked out the comic in anticipation. This Hellboy is not as dark, much more visually stimulating, not quite as interesting narratively, no where near as intense, but much funnier and a bit cooler and more fun(sorry this is not a deep theologically and culturally centered review- but it is a comic book and not an attempt at philosophical statement. Of course, some "emerging" film reviewers will try to "Matrix" it). BTW, the Elf Prince is awesome, Hellboy has the funniest line of dialogue this year and the acting is (as usual) pitch perfect. 8 on the scale of 1-10.
next up
(2X- in regular theater and IMAX)- and I am fully prepared for this (see below)
then
(how do I prepare? do I rewatch 7 seasons worth of shows? Do I watch the 1st movie? Do I dig out my old X Files poster and set it up in the bathroom?)
*I am actually an Indie flick kinda guy that finds the fall and winter more conducive to my movie tastes. However, now that they have figured out how to make comics into fine film, I am becoming a summer guy also.

As you know, i'm not a huge comic book guy. But I'm totally with you on all these. Just saw Hellboy 2 (Priest at our church actually recommended it) and loved it! Saw the Hulk last night (3 out of 4 stars) and am going to the early Sat showing of Dark Knight.
These are good times for fun in film. BTW, which line were you thinking of from HB2? I laughed out loud at the "Your assness" line...
