Good list man, i didn't know you liked mewithoutyou. Cold War Kids must have made quite an impression on you this year. I'll have to check them out. I just started listening to the Hold Steady's album and it's very good, much better than their last.

Intriguing and good list for sure, Rick. I love Ritter (one of the finest albums I've heard in a long time), Gomez, Beirut, Muse, Wickham, The Decemberists, Neko, Cold War Kids, etc. I didn't get into ALL of The Format to give the dynamic duo the number 1 slot, however. I am still a sick Glen Phillips fan too. There are only two of us in the world, and he can't vote for himself. So I will cast my lone vote for him to be in the Top 10 of the year:)
The 'Noles redeemed themselves nicely in their bowl, unlike the Vols.
Have a great '07!

Eric- I take it that you are an EMusic subscriber also.

I did enjoy the Glen Phillips CD this year. I listen to it regularly, but would not put it that high for some arbitrary reason (purely intuitive).

You would love M Ward.

Dustin,

yeah, the Cold War Kids really affected me. I meant to blog about them earlier.

As for The Format- I talked about them earlier this year. It is pure pop heaven to me. They are funny, good musicians with a great singer. They understand the importance of hook laden melodies and offer up some great ones.

the album is very inventive and diverse. While most critics liked the CD alot, I don't think they can bring themselves to put something poppy #1 (it is not important enough).

I thought CWK would be #1, but in the end, The Format put in the most rotation.

Yes, Rick, I am a proud emusic subscriber (doing the annual thingy). Lots of musical gems for sure. I will try to give The Format more of a chance.
Hope '07 is a great year of discovery for you all.
